The Making Of Our Omar Striped Wool Blankets And Throws
Our blankets are designed in London and hand-woven by master weavers on traditional wooden looms in Al Harouz, Morocco. The Omar hand-woven wool striped blankets and throws are inspired by autumnal shades: russet red and moody lake blues on a base of natural un-dyed wool.
The entire production process, from spinning the wool, to the weaving is done by hand. We visit the weavers to discuss colour palettes and designs and see blanket samples on the loom. During Covid we had to work remotely, sending wool samples to Morocco and receiving photos of the designs from the weavers. Fortunately, we have worked with this group of master weavers for ten years so we were able to complete the collection remotely. In the photograph below, you can see our Omar blanket design on the loom.
Our striped wool blankets and throws are warm and cosy. They come with or without pom poms in a standard size of 240cm x 300cm. Bespoke sizes are available for trade customers. If you are not sure about the sizing take a look at our Sizing Guide.
