This stunning serving bowl is from the Tamegroute pottery, a cooperative of seven families of potters in the village of Tamegroute on the edge of the Sahara desert.
Each piece is handmade using techniques handed down from family to family over generations. The pottery is known for its distinctive, green glaze created by using clay from the river Draa, manganese, silicon, cobalt, copper and barley, and a secret ingredient. It’s the combination of the glaze and the way in which the pieces are fired which creates the myriad of different colours in each piece, ranging from mustard to earthy brown, rustic green and turquoise. The colours and patterns in each piece are unique.
Tamegroute ceramics are perfectly imperfect, so expect changes in the glaze, surface texture and shape.
This large Tamegroute serving bowl can be used for fruit or salad and will create a stylish centrepiece on a dining table.
