Handmade using techniques handed down from family to family over generations
Tamegroute is a village in the Draa valley on the edge of the desert. Each piece of pottery is unique and handmade using techniques handed down from over generations. The pottery is known for its distinctive, green, and ochre glazes created with, manganese, silicon, cobalt, copper and barley, and a secret ingredient.
It’s the combination of the glaze and the firing process which creates the myriad of different colours in each piece, ranging from mustard to earthy brown, rustic green, black and turquoise.
No two pieces are alike, and the ceramics are often described as perfectly imperfect so expect changes in the glaze, surface texture and shape.
